NEXGEN STEM ACADEMY

@ SALISBURY MIDDLE SCHOOL
Building the Next Generation of Leaders Inspired by Curiosity, Creativity, and Innovation.
ABOUT NEXGEN

OUR MISSION

The NexGen STEM Academy at Salisbury Middle School seeks to build the next generation of leaders that are inspired to assess and solve community and global problems collaboratively through curiosity, creativity, and innovation.

AGRICULTURAL STUDIES

One of the central focuses of the NexGen STEM Academy is the study of agriculture and sustainability throughout all of our courses.  Our studies integrate content within the humanities, social sciences, engineering, mathematics, and natural sciences to give students the tools they need to examine complex agricultural and sustainability issues in depth and assess them from a variety of perspectives that will ultimately lead to student designed solutions. In addition to instruction within the classroom, students have access to the NexGen Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE).

Upcoming research projects within the NLAE consist of...
  • maintenance of our edible garden areas
  • plant growth research
  • hydroponic and aquaponic agricultural systems
  • irrigation systems
  • fertilizer and pest management
